Where do I start if I want to buy a house?
The first step is to work out your budget and what you can comfortably afford to spend each month if you will be taking out a mortgage. You will also need a cash deposit. Most lenders require a minimum 10% deposit, but if you are a first-time buyer, the Help To Buy scheme can assist you to get you onto the property ladder with a deposit of just 5%.
If you’re looking to buy a 2 bedroom house in Bicester and you have worked out your budget, then contact our sales team to see what’s available at Graven Hill, visit our properties, see the opportunities and discuss your requirements.
How much does a 2 bedroom house cost?
At Graven Hill, prices for our 2 bedroom homes start at £310,000. If you would like to discuss financing options for your 2 bedroom house, please give us a call, and a member of our sales team will be happy to help.
How much deposit do I need to buy a 2 bedroom house?
If you are buying a house for the first-time, you can apply for a 20% equity loan from the Government, meaning that you only need a 5% cash deposit and a 75% mortgage to cover the rest. The current scheme is available on new properties up to £600,000, but this figure may be revised when the government announces their new Help To Buy scheme in April 2021.
Use the Help to Buy calculator to give you an idea of what the monthly costs could be if you use a Help to Buy Equity Loan.
If you do not intend to use the Help To Buy scheme, most lenders currently expect you to have a 10-15% cash deposit.
How long does it take to buy a house?
Buying a new build property typically takes less time, since there is no chain involved and there are fewer opportunities for things to go wrong. Once you have made your choice and finance is in place, it can take as little as eight weeks to complete a house purchase.
