We were delighted to visit Brookside Primary School to talk through the history of Graven Hill.

Years 3 and 4 at Brookside Primary School are currently looking at Bicester ‘Then & Now’. As an important historical site that has changed so much in the last few years, we were only too happy to help.

The children learnt all about the important part that Graven Hill played in D-Day preparations during World War II, alongside how the area has been transformed by Cherwell District Council into a thriving new community of unique homes.

We also showcased the archaeological and environmental aspects of creating Graven Hill as it exists today. Archaeological digs discovered items from as far back as the Neolithic age and our conservation efforts include creating a new protected area for great crested newts.

By helping the Brookside Primary School children with their project and as an exciting new place to live in Bicester, we hope to have demonstrated that our history is as significant as our plans moving forward. As part of their project, the children are now working on designing their dream homes for a competition. The dream homes will be submitted to us by the end of March and three lucky winners will get the opportunity to have their drawing put up on our next tranche of hoarding.
