On 29th September, we welcomed Christopher Pincher MP, the Minister of State for Housing and Planning, to Graven Hill.
The visit came following the launch of a 12-week consultation to create a vision for the Oxford-Cambridge Arc Spatial Framework, a long-term plan for improving the area and supporting economic growth.
Showcasing Graven Hill
Housing is a core part of the framework, as without a wide range of homes that suit every need and budget, an area can never reach its true potential. Sitting directly within the Arc, Graven Hill will play a key role in the development of this innovative framework.
As part of the visit, we took the Minister on a tour of the site, showcasing the variety of homes that make up our unique development, as well as the Build It Education House.
From new build and custom build homes to self-build creations, we believe that the future of housing lies with providing people with choice, rather than compromises. We’ve always championed creating homes for individuals, not the masses.
The next step
Over the last year, there have been plenty of house completions, with more and more residents being welcomed into our community. Enabling works on the employment land and Phase 2 of the development have also commenced, signaling the next exciting stage for the development.
To celebrate the launch of the latest self-build plots, we held a ribbon cutting ceremony with the help of Mr Pincher and Cllr Barry Wood. The start of the next phase saw 18 new serviced plots released for sale as part of the Build It Live event in Bicester.
Once the Help to Build scheme is officially launched, budding self and custom builders will be able to take advantage of the funding on our Phase 2 plots. This will further help to make housing in the Oxford-Cambridge Arc more accessible than ever, creating a more diverse community and helping first-time-buyers to take the initial step onto the property ladder, with a home they love.
Karen Curtin, managing director at Graven Hill, said:
“The Oxford-Cambridge Arc Spatial Framework is an exciting development, bringing jobs, homes and economic prosperity to the local area. Oxfordshire continues to be a popular place to live, so homes will be hugely important in ensuring the initiative is a success.”
Christopher Pincher MP, Minister of State for Housing and Planning, said:
“We are levelling up the whole country and unlocking the huge potential of the entire Oxford-Cambridge Arc. Places like Graven Hill show just how we can build high quality, well designed, new homes and make sure this popular area continues to be a beautiful place to live, work and visit.
“Improving the planning process across the region will support the housing sector, create thousands of jobs, drive investment and vital infrastructure, and protect the environment. I want residents and local communities to have their say on the future of the area and encourage everyone to fill out our online consultation.”
