Prospective self-builders will have the opportunity to submit sealed bids for seven premium plots at the UK’s largest custom-build housing project based at Graven Hill in Bicester.

Between 16 January and 24 February, people can bid for the six-bedroom plots which will be located in close proximity to the site’s feature hilltop woodland.

The land guide price for each of the plots will range from £270,000 to £340,000 with the plot sizes ranging from 4,736 square feet to 6,910 square feet.

Karen Curtin, interim managing director for the Graven Hill Village Development Company said: “This is the first time we have released plots for sale through the sealed bid process so we are expecting a lot of interest. These plots are some of the most sought after on the 188 acre site as they are situated closed to the hill and offer fantastic views of the woodland.

“Each of these seven plots has the capacity to house a property with up to six bedrooms, although the designs and layout will obviously be at the discretion of each of the self-builders. Over the next five weeks people who are interested in these plots need to submit their sealed bid with an overview of the home design to help us make a final decision.”

Each of the sealed bid applications must include a home design which fits within the framework of the Plot Passport and design code, which will accompany information on the individual plots. These documents will stipulate the parameters which homes can be built in, such as the maximum height and acceptable building materials, and will replace the need to obtain individual planning consent for each plot.

The applications will also need to include confirmation of funding and the ability to proceed and a cost plan.

Interested parties can bid on their preferred plots and if successful, have the opportunity to design and build their own home either independently or through the appointment of a private construction team.

All submissions must be made in their entirety by no later than 5pm on 24 February to Graven Hill Village Development Company, Room 49, Bodicote House, White Post Road, Bodicote, Banbury, OX15 4AA.
